n Vedic Jyotish, Rashis refer to the twelve astrological signs of the zodiac. Each Rashi represents a specific segment of the celestial sky and has its own unique characteristics, ruling planets, and elements.
The twelve Rashis:
- Mesh (Aries): Ruled by Mars (Mangala)
- Vrishabha (Taurus): Ruled by Venus (Shukra)
- Mithuna (Gemini): Ruled by Mercury (Budha)
- Karka (Cancer): Ruled by the Moon (Chandra)
- Simha (Leo): Ruled by the Sun (Surya)
- Kanya (Virgo): Ruled by Mercury (Budha)
- Tula (Libra): Ruled by Venus (Shukra)
- Vrischika (Scorpio): Ruled by Mars (Mangala)
- Dhanu (Sagittarius): Ruled by Jupiter (Guru)
- Makara (Capricorn): Ruled by Saturn (Shani)
- Kumbha (Aquarius): Ruled by Saturn (Shani)
- Meena (Pisces): Ruled by Jupiter (Guru)
Each Rashi also corresponds to one of the four elements: fire, earth, air, or water. For example, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are fire signs; Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are earth signs; Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are air signs; and Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are water signs.
Astrologers analyze the placement of planets within these Rashis in a person’s birth chart to gain insights into their personality, strengths, weaknesses, and life events. Additionally, the interaction between planets and Rashis is considered in predicting future outcomes and providing guidance in various aspects of life.
